Who or What is Independent Jewish Publishers?

Independent Jewish Publishers is a group of people who have written books about Jewish topics on our own without the help of the major publishing houses. Some of us are Rabbis and Jewish professionals and some of us are simply members of the community with a story to tell.

Our mission is to share these books and stories with a wider audience and provide a platform for independent Jewish authors and publishers to get the word out about their upcoming books and projects.

We’re creative. We’re intellectual. We’re driven. And we would love for you to be a part of our community.

How You Can Support Us

Purchase Our Books

Looking for something new to read? Need to buy a gift for a friend or family member? Consider buying one of our books and supporting the independent Jewish author/publisher community.

Tell Your Friends

We don’t have the resources that major publishing houses do and are trying to grow our community organically. Tell your friends about us! Tell your family! Tell your congregation and chavurah!

Connect With Us

Do you have a friend that runs the Chanukah sale at your synagogue? Are you in charge of the book fair? Do you know a local bookstore that supports independent authors? We want to know them (and you) too!

David The Dreidel
Chanukah Comes Year-Round!

Yes, spring and summer are on the way, but we are still celebrating the Festival of Lights.

David the Dreidel is a whimsical tale of a dreidel that comes to life to spread the light and joy of the Chanukah spirit. Sing along (it’s set to the tune of “Frosty the Snowman”) or simply read with your children and enjoy this silly, fun story.

Gavriel Goldfeder: Alternadox

A Jewish Life Consultant, a.k.a. Rabbi. A 21st-century rabbi must be both ancient and modern, old-school and tuned-in. So, yes, Gavriel is a rabbi in the traditional sense of the word. Ordained, spent six years learning in yeshiva Gavriel loves to do the things rabbis do – officiate weddings and B’nei Mitzvah but also focuses on living in the 21st century.

Gavriel runs Alternadox, a platform for the publication and dissemination of compelling ideas that positively and productively challenge assumptions about Jewish life. Alternadox seeks to change Jewish life from within by finding depth in traditional text and freshness in practice. We actively seek out new voices in our community and work with them to bring their works and teachings to a broader audience. The guiding principle of Alternadox is reverent irreverence.
